Drive King
All clips were played with guitar direct into the amp through a Celestion Alnico Gold speaker in a open backed cab using a SM57 microphone 30cm from the cab, plus two ambient mics mixed in at low level for some stereo ambience. The ‘Grit’ clips are the clean ‘channel’ with the headroom dialed back for power tube breakup. The reverb you hear is from the amp.
Custom 20
The following clip demonstrates the versatility and wide range of tones available from this single channel amp. Close mic'd with an SM57. The speaker is a G12H-75 Creamback.
Ruby
The following audio clips were recorded with the guitar straight into the amp running into a 1x12 cab loaded with a Celestion G12M-65 Creamback which was close mic'd with an SM57. A couple of room mics were added to the mix at approx 15dB below the direct mic. All the reverb and compression you hear is from the amplifier. Each clip demonstrates several combinations of settings on the amp and all pickup configurations that each guitar offers.
Renegade
The following clips were played on a Fender Telecaster and recorded with a Zoom H2 placed approx 2ft in front of the speaker. All reverb, compression and tremolo are produced by the amp. No processing was applied before uploading other than normalising and mp3 encoding...............
Onyx +
The following clips were very kindly recorded by Pete Wood. Pete used an SM57 on the compact 1x12 cab loaded with a G12M-65 Creamback, with a couple of clips done with a G12-65. No processing was used other than MP3 encoding so all the reverb and compression is from the Onyx+. You can find out more about Pete through his website at http://www.woodys-guitar-world.co.uk/
